Spanning over 91,637 SF, Claxton Elementary is a recent two-story replacement school for the Guilford County School System. This new elementary school offers 31 flexible learning spaces for innovative teaching and interdisciplinary collaboration. The first-floor features grades pre-K through 1st, administrative offices and a multi-purpose cafeteria equipped with a platform stage and storage. The second floor includes classrooms for grades 2-5, arranged around a perimeter that opens to the first floor below, creating an engaging and connected learning environment.
Dedicated rooms for art, music, occupational therapy, sensory needs, and pre-K further enhance the educational experience. Claxton Elementary’s design not only supports student engagement and community connections but also complements and strengthens the surrounding neighborhood. With 41% MWBE participation, this project underscores a commitment to inclusivity and community involvement.
